After careful thought, we have decided on the following criteria for what we feel constitutes a veteran. If you meet this criterion, you are entitled to free lifetime membership of the BACVA.
A minimum of 3 years full-time regular service or 9 years reserve service in any of the armed services.
Veteran status will also be given to;
1. Personnel who completed basic training, but were not able to complete 3 years’ service due to injury (physical or mental) causing them to be medically discharged.
2. Reservists who completed a full-time tour of duty in an active service area, alongside their regular colleagues.
3. Reservists who were not able to complete a full-time tour of duty in an active service area due to injury (physical or mental) causing them to be medically discharged.
For those who served during the era of National Service, they must have either completed their service or been injured during their service and medically discharged due to that injury.
